How Michelle Can Help!
Do you feel overwhelmed, like you’re reaching the end of your resources and are uncertain of how to proceed in addressing your child's mental health challenges? Michelle has expertise in managing complex and severe instances of adolescent mental health trauma.
Michelle adopts a direct approach, employing empathy, curiosity, and humor to cultivate a supportive and encouraging atmosphere. Her first objective is always to create a safe environment—both physical and emotional—for all involved parties. Once that is achieved, she collaborates with you to determine your specific therapeutic goals. Michelle assesses your family’s previous successes and explores how those can be used to address your circumstances effectively. Throughout sessions, she provides a trauma-informed approach aimed at preserving the parents’ relationship with each other, while also nurturing the well-being of the adolescent’s siblings.

Here's how Michelle’s services can support you:
Michelle begins with a 30-minute virtual discussion. An initial safety plan for the adolescent and the entire family will be created if necessary.
We will schedule 53-minute weekly family meetings, with the attendance of individual family members varying as necessary, to address the dynamics of the previous week. We will collaborate on setting three-month goals with detailed benchmarks agreed upon by the entire family to ensure measurable progress. We will work to achieve the family's objectives by measuring progress against clearly defined milestones.
Michelle will conduct one 15-20 minute weekly check-in between scheduled meetings to provide ongoing support, assess progress, and adjust or reinforce action plans as needed.
If necessary, Michelle will evaluate pertinent Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to ensure appropriate accommodations for the student. She will also facilitate communication with the school to garner support for the student. This support addresses any struggles the student may be experiencing and is not limited to school avoidance.
As a team, we will set a conclusion date for therapy once the family has reached their goals and satisfactorily addressed the underlying issues impacting the family dynamic.
